More about Sound Therapy
The gongs and singing bowls are some of the oldest musical instruments in the world. Based on ancient wisdom, the gongs vibrate at the same frequency as the body allowing the body to heal itself. The sounds and vibrations of the gong create deep relaxation and state of meditation by altering brain waves from a Beta (waking state) to Theta & Delta (deep meditation). Science teaches that during these brain frequencies we access our deeper subconscious and superconscious and they are key states for healing.
Many people have noticeable experiences during a Gong Meditation – aka Sound Bath. People can feel their bodies twitch (as the energy meridians are cleared & balanced), have insights, bursts of creative ideas, see splashes of color behind their closed eyes, out of body experiences, or simply experience feelings of total peace & connectedness.
Gong sound can be used to rebalance the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. It has a profound effect on our cardiovascular, autonomic, endocrine and immune systems. It is an excellent therapy for stress related issues, depression, fatigue, anger and hostility, feelings of separation, loneliness, and fear along with many other conditions related to lack of balance and harmony in the body. During a session energy may be released in emotions or physical responses, heart rate slows, blood pressure drops and breath is restored to its natural rhythm.
Lauren Margolies began practicing yoga nearly 15 years ago as a way to increase flexibility, but it quickly became apparent there was much more to be found. After having two children, as a working mom, the importance of her yoga practice became paramount in helping create harmony in her daily life. Through her training at the Dallas Yoga Center, Lauren discovered new ways to connect with sound meditation and restorative yoga, which shifted her entire perspective and practice. Lauren's goal as a teacher is to compassionately guide others to find more balance and peace through yoga and meditation.
Kenny Kolter approaches sound therapy and gong meditation with a subtle rhythmic quality, teasing out the vast array of tones, harmonics and shimmering nuances that reside within the instrument. His goal is to be a sound bridge between the energy and spirit that lie within the gong and to sonically draw out or tune into the energy and spirit that resides in all of us.
