Gong Meditation Workshop

This class is taught by:

Kenny Kolter

Kenny approaches a gong meditation with a subtle rhythmic quality, teasing out the vast array of tones, harmonics and shimmering nuances that reside within the instrument. The result is that these sonic, mystical characteristics provide a vehicle for quieting the mind and body.

Kenny has been a featured presenter at the Illinois Rehabilitation Association Conference in April 2010 and at the Northern Illinois Rehabilitation Nurses Association in November 2010. He has traveled and performed internationally as a professional musician.

As a recording artist Kenny has released four gong meditation CDs in the past four years: Vibrational Journey 2007, Vibrational Visions 2008 & Vibrational Portal 2009 and most recently Kenny partnered with Dr. Julie Milne to create Channel of Light - A Guided Imagery Meditation for Gong.

Kenny's goal is to facilitate and be a sound bridge between the energy and spirit that lies within the Gong while sonically drawing out or tuning into the energy and spirit that resides in us all.

$20 Space is limited & this event will sell out - so buy early.

No late arrivals admitted - the session begins at 6:30pm.

The physical sound and vibration of the gong is powerful and soothing, invigorating and relaxing. Enter the studio, lie down on a nest of blankets and bolsters, and allow the sounds to “wash” over you as Kenny takes you on a deep inward journey. He creates a beautiful interwoven tapestry of sound and rhythm that allows you to relax into new found areas of your own awareness.

More about Gong Meditation

The gong is one of the oldest musical instruments in the world. Based on ancient wisdom, the gongs vibrate at the same frequency as the body allowing the body to heal itself. The sounds and vibrations of the gong create deep relaxation and state of meditation by altering brain waves from a Beta (waking state) to Theta & Delta (deep meditation). Science teaches that during these brain frequencies we access our deeper subconscious and superconscious and they are key states for healing. Many people have noticeable experiences during a Gong Meditation – aka Sound Bath. People can feel their bodies twitch (as the energy meridians are cleared & balanced), have insights, bursts of creative ideas, see splashes of color behind their closed eyes, out of body experiences, or simply experience feelings of total peace & connectedness. Gong sound can be used to re-balance the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. It has a profound affect on our cardiovascular, autonomic, endocrine and immune systems. It is an excellent therapy for stress related issues, depression, fatigue, anger and hostility, feelings of separation, loneliness, and fear along with many other conditions related to lack of balance and harmony in the body. During a session energy may be released in emotions or physical responses, heart rate slows, blood pressure drops and breath is restored to its natural rhythm.
